ITS OPERATIONS SUPPORT ENGINEER

Operations Support Engineer is primarily responsible for supporting and troubleshooting any incidents that arise within the production server, network and desktop computing environments, and documenting any fixes or troubleshooting steps.
Qualification:
- Must have college degree, or specific education in computer science or IT
- Must have two (2) to four (4) years experience in an IT related capacity with
MCSE credentials
- Must understand core functionality of all aspects of Windows Server O/S
- Must be able to provide advanced troubleshooting knowledge of Windows Server Systems and Hyper-V environments
- Must have firm grasp of Windows 2003 Active Directory concepts and be able to troubleshoot issues when escalated from tier 1
- Must have basic knowledge of the SQL language, and understand core concepts involved in supporting a SQL infrastructure, including administrative tasks and disaster recovery concepts
- Must understand LAN/WAN terminology and concepts, and be able to perform basic troubleshooting tasks on network equipment
- Must be able to work on shifting schedule
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Tier2 support for production network and hardware/software server
- Work with other Operations team members to follow issues through to resolution
- Coordinate issue resolution with 3rd-tier support personnel or outside vendors, as appropriate
- Maintain procedural and troubleshooting documentation and keep build guides and operating run books up-to-date
- Perform installations of new or updated systems into the test and production environments
- Troubleshoot the installations, as needed, to preserve the integrity of the environments
- Tier1 monitoring and support for production network and hardware/software server, and initial handling of user-initiated support requests
- Monitor production environment using existing monitoring tools, and provide 1st-tier response to any issues that arise, including user-initiated phone calls and emails
