Responsibilities

The Senior Systems Administrator (SSA) is responsible for managing a large heterogenous cluster of about 80 Unix (FreeBSD/Linux) and Windows 2000/2003 servers. The job includes assisting in the architecture and implementation of mission critical services such as online games, databases, corporate email and workgroup tools, web servers, etc. S/he will plan and execute systems management procedures for the server farm including performance monitoring and tuning tasks, backup and disaster recovery, security monitoring, among others. The successful candidate must be available for on-call 24/7 support.

Requirements

• Strong experience administering both Linux/BSD and Windows system installations of over 100 nodes.
• Deep experience in open-source technologies such as Apache/nginx/lighttpd, PHP, MySQL, and PostgreSQL, But well-rounded with a solid working knowledge of their Windows equivalents such as IIS, ASP.NET, and SQL Server.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts, from routing to security. Experience with IP firewalls such as pfSense, as well as SSH and VPNs. Knowledge of IOS, BGP, QoS a plus.
• Experience implementing and maintaining other network services such as email (smtp/pop/imap), DNS, network storage (SAN/NAS), NFS, etc.
• Experience and knowledge of systems installation and configuration management, performance tuning, security, capacity planning, and scaling.
• Knows how to implement and maintain a reliable data retention and business continuity strategy for all services.
• Solid skills in shell/Perl scripting to automate routine system tasks. Understands how to automate tasks in Windows server environments as well.
• Experience with network management tools and protocols such as Nagios, SNMP.
• Keen troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with virtualization technologies a plus.
