Civil Construction Supervisor

Job Description
Under the direct supervision of the Construction Manager, the CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISOR (Civil) is responsible for the day to day civil construction activities Greenfield Hydro sites. Duties would include construction supervision, inspection, record keeping, approvals, programming and planning, daily reporting, instruction to contractors, meeting management, coordination between contractors, coordination with liaison activity and safety + environmental supervision to ensure the successful implementation and construction of green-field Hydropower Projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Supervision of the project delivery team for the works.
2. Provide support and recommendations in establishing and agreeing budgets and timelines and methodology for the construction.
3. Identify and coordinate resource requirements, both internal and external, including recommendations of necessary site management team.
4. Establish key construction deliverables, reporting mechanisms and timelines. Manage progress in accordance with specific project development and delivery milestones.
5. Implement and manage an accurate and comprehensive quality assurance system.
6. Participate in project meetings and ensure they are recorded and acted upon.
7. Confer with construction engineers, main civil contractor, design professionals to discuss and resolve project issues such as work procedures, complaints and construction issues.
8. Ensure maintenance and monitoring of project records - engineering, commercial, instructions, progress, photography, QA/QC etc.
9. Provide value engineering expertise and advice during design and construction.
10. Oversee day to day civil construction activities through on site supervision and inspection, coordination between contractors and with liaison team to ensure successful implementation and construction of green-field hydropower projects.
11. Coordinate with the Finance team to ensure costs and payments are understood and planned efficiently.
12. Ensure project activities are being carried out in accordance with policies and guidelines established including health, Safety, Environment and Social policies.
13. Identify issues and monitor the contractor for ongoing environmental compliance.
14. Coordinate leasing of necessary land and easements for use as temporary facilities, etc.
15. Provide supervision on the commissioning and internal handover of the project.
16. High quality reporting on progress and costs incurred on a monthly basis until completion of the project. Facilitate solution finding meetings and propose corrective measures on delays or cost overruns.
17. Provide feedback and advice on the administration of all contracts related to the project to ensure each party's obligations are met. Prepare recommendations for all contractual issues including re-measurement, claims, variations, notice, disputes etc.
18. Ensure the smooth transition of the project from the construction stage to the operations.
19. Ensure that the culture of the project staff is aligned with the core values of the company and the community.
20. Ensure that the safety and the security of the project staff and assets are maintained and protected to the highest standards.
21. Perform any other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by the immediate superior consistent with the purpose of this role.
