Responsibilities:

• Administer, maintain and support CXC Global UNIX server (70%) – mainly Ubuntu, Debian, Windows XP3 and SAN related issues (30%).
• Advise on and implement new Open Source technologies into our hardware and software IT infrastructure.
• Participate in all our software development activities to advice on and support the system administrative aspects of it.
• Develop and maintain installation and configuration scripts to ensure standardization across our global office and server IT infrastructure.
• Respond to support requests from our internal users and cultivate as well as maintain a productive office IT infrastructure
• Monitor and optimize the performance of our worldwide server infrastructure.
• Work within a team environment to ensure daily availability of UNIX servers with significant business or IT impact.
• Perform, monitor and report on backup/ restore processes of UNIX Servers.
• Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting performance issues, OS configuration and hardware failures (does not include hardware repair/replacement) and repair system software.
• Handle UNIX-based server and OS installations, net backup, incidents, data analysis, security, performance, and standards compliance issues.

• Monitor and report storage capacity on Storage Area Networks (SAN).
Support new and existing projects, upgrades, patches and creation of documentation in production and non-production environment.
• Work closely with the CXC’s system administrators across the globe as well as developers to ensure smooth operability of backup infrastructure with adherence to the internal security policies.

• Report on assignments / tasks / project status.

Requirements:

• Degree in IT or its equivalent with minimum 2 years’ experience in administering UNIX servers, Storage and Backup Libraries.
• You are absolutely fanatical about Linux and very familiar with Virtualization, MySQL clusters, Postfix, and so on.
• You have an excellent command of the English language in word as well as writing.
• You are a good programmer, preferably in the PHP/MySQL and you’re able to demonstrate this.
• It is an advantage if you have been exposed to Scrum or other agile development concepts.
• Solaris 8, 9 and 10 is mandatory.
• SUN certified administrator and / or other industry related certification is an advantage.
• Exposure to Citrix XenServer is an added advantage.
• Experience in PHP/MySQL is be an added advantage.
• Willing to work additional hours if required.
• Familiarity with working knowledge of networking, job scheduling and automation including products such as CA Autosys and Access Control is added advantage.
• Good understanding of security issues, SAN and Oracle-related products as well as problem and change management process.
• Will manage the remote servers in other CXC offices
