Profile and Job Description of Future Team - MSSQL
Job Profile :
Senior MS-SQL DBA, responsible for administering MS-SQL database servers. The candidate should be able to work on flexi 8 hour work per day, over any given 5 days a week schedule. The MSSQL DBA is accountable for performance & tuning, database server installations, security administration, query tuning, replication support & setup, setting up in house maintenance scripts, backup & recovery, & working with clients to come up with the best database solution.

Primary Responsibilities :
Secondary Responsibilities :
- Acknowledge and respond to user chat.
- Provide telephonic support, wherever appropriate
- Resolve Incident
- Resolve service requests via a queue system
- Proactively resolve DB related problems
- Address alerts triggered via an alert console.
- Implement upgrades, Changes, Configurations, etc.
- Implement and rollout global initiatives/projects
- Resolve production related outages and apply break-fix to databases.
- Implement and rollout global initiatives/projects
- Troubleshoot and fix performance issues.
- Interact with other functional and business teams across the globe.
- Opening cases with Vendors
- Execution of IWE, BCP, power down, etc
- Technical nature of work include:
? Setup of complex environments.
? Implement changes raised through change management systems.
? Resolve production related outages.
? Troubleshoot and fix performance issues.
? Interact with other functional and business teams across the globe.
- Capable of leading projects. Capable of leading a team.
Technical Skills Required :
Essential :
Desirable :
RDBMS : MSSQL 2000 & 2005. Knowledge in MSSQL 2008 an advantage
Tools : SQL Server Enterprise, Query Analyzer, DTS, SqlServer Agent, T-SQL
Replication : MSSql replication (desirable)
OS : Enterprise Edition Windows 2000 & Windows 2003
Cluster : MS SqlServer Cluster Build
RDBMS : Knowledge in other databases like Sybase, Oracle
Tools : PowerShell, VB
Personal Skills Required :
Communication skills :
Strong analytical and logical skills, capable of resolving problems quickly and independently. Should be an excellent team player and willing to learn Sybase/Oracle
English – Excellent in written/verbal communication. Capable of leading an incident related conference calls.

4-6 years (Exp in Financial Production support is desirable)
