Profile and Job Description of Future Team - Unix
Job Profile :
The candidate should be able to work on flexi 8 hour work per day, over any given 5 days a week schedule. To resolve production server problems, new installations, implementation of changes, supporting business over complex cluster environment.

Primary Responsibilities :
Secondary Responsibilities :
- Respond to user queries on chat and provide telephonic support
- Independent problem solving; self-direction
- Ability to analyse and solve Problems quickly and completely
- Proficiency with most aspects of UNIX (Solaris) system administration; for example systems upgrades, package installations, jump-starting and configuration, printing systems, fundamentals of security, installing third-party software
- Implement service requests OS install/upgrade & Server moves.
- Regular communication with the customer and other teams to clarify details of service requests and to ensure that work is completed on time.
- Regular participation in on-call service and weekend planned works.
- Implement service requests, e.g. O/S installation & upgrade, server moves, etc.
- Shell and Perl scripting
- Writing technical documents
- Working in region and global projects
- Raising cases with vendor
- Providing Global Support of other regions (L3 teams) outside of their business hours
- O/S upgrade, IP changes, Printer configuration, group and net-group access, Kernel tuning etc.
- Understands paging and swapping, inter-process communication
- Solid understanding of file system, such as: UFS, NFS, disk partitioning, file system tuning, configuring automount and troubleshooting
- Solid understanding of naming services, such as NIS, DNS. understands basic routing concepts
- Provide on-call for APAC specific Unix issues outside of business hours.
- Participating in various regional - and global projects, communicating fluently in English
- Shell-scripting and, preferably, scripting in PERL.

- Basics in relational databases such as Oracle or Sybase
- Knowledge of SAN and NAS administration
- programming language
- Knowledge in Vmware
- Knowledge in the standard ITIL processes
- Certification in Solaris, Linux RedHat, Veritas
- Ability to diagnose basic programming issues in C and Java
- General knowledge/understanding of NetInfo on OpenStep OS / Netbackup concepts
- Should be capable of leading projects like patching and upgrades at global level
Personal Skills Required :
Communication skills :
Strong analytical and logical skills, capable of resolving problems quickly and independently. Should be an excellent team player.
English – Excellent in written/verbal communication. Capable of leading
incident related conference calls.
