full time CPE Sales Engineering Manager

Functional Requirements

The CPE Sales Engineering Manager is responsible for managing and controlling sales engineering activities associated with the company’s Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) and services portfolio. This position is responsible for ensuring the achievement of sales, revenue, and margin goals by providing quality sales engineering support to both enterprise customers.

Principal Accountabilities:
• Direct and supervise the team of CPE Sales Engineers
• Assist in proactive demand creation through product / service initiatives
• Act as a liaison between Sales, Product Management and Operations
• Supervise the provisioning of ongoing professional training to staff through formal training, seminars and workshops and regular skill assessments to maintain the highest level of technical support to the account team.
• Accountable for the performance and support levels of Sales Engineers, and implementing necessary actions, including coaching and/or discipline of non-performing personnel to achieve required performance levels.
• Balance workload and resource utilization for the team.
• Analyze results for the product/portfolio areas and manage for optimal revenue and margins
• Manage vendor/partner relationships with primary geographic region.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Management
• Provide leadership and guidance to team on executing their roles and responsibilities
• Evaluate performance and provide feedback for improvements
• Conduct technical training sessions / discussion forums with the teams to foster learning and knowledge sharing
• Ensure that the team as a whole provides adequate coverage in all the product groups - Identify training needs for individuals and ensure that there is a plan to bridge the training gaps
• Manage resource utilization and balance workload across the team
• Escalate / delegate issues raised by the team – act as the focal point of contact between your team and other groups within the company

Technical Expertise
• Develop an understanding of the company’s product and services
• Analyze and report on sales results for the product areas/manufacturers
• Proactive demand creation - work with account teams / branch management to develop programs to market and increase product sales
• Provide technical support to the CPE Sales Engineers on appropriate sales
• Direct the sales management in identifying and driving technology sales opportunities to successful completion

Minimum Qualifications
• Minimum 5 - 7 years experience with network applications and LAN/WAN or data communications.
• Minimum 3 - 5 years integrating diverse information technology: local exchange, inter-exchange and data transport, and LAN/WAN.
• A demonstrated understanding and practical use of technical solution selling.
• Minimum 1 - 3 years management supervision of technical support resource.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Additional Qualifications
• Ability to coach sales process skills and enhance staff's ability with technical customer presentations.
• Sound technical understanding of advanced network services (MPLS, Ethernet, VoIP, Centrex/CentraNet and Voice Grade Services, LAN/WAN environment, Optical Transport Infrastructure, interoperability and connectivity issues.)
• Strong written, oral and presentation skills with the ability to discuss highly technical concepts to a variety of audiences (specifically a customer's executive level technical decision-makers).
• Experience in developing cost effective solutions and business impact justifications.
