Websphere Administrator

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree Computer Science or Computer Information Technology
Has 5+ years of experience of Websphere Administration including installation, troubleshooting, maintenance/upgrade strategies and performance tuning.
Knowledge of websphere clustering, load testing. best practices and proactive measures.
Knowledge of port communication infrastructure required through firewalls for distributed HTTP server and websphere.
General knowledge of all logs related to the product and ability to identify and analyze logs to find relevant errors pertaining to product and applications.
Experience in LDAP administration.
Must be able to multitask, work independently as well as in a team.
Experience working with J2EE developers.
Knowledge of monitoring strategies.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Expertise in developing JACL/Jython scripts to automate deployment and builds.
Participates in 24x7 rotational on-call production websphere administration support for business critical applications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Installs, configures, administers and troubleshoots web servers, edge servers, application servers, and LDAP servers.
Executes performance tuning of Websphere Application server and IBM HTTP Server for optimal performance based on user load.
Performs server clustering for load balancing and failover.
Works with Database Administrators to implement session persistence.
Monitors performance and provide ongoing configuration and tuning adjustments.
Configures connections to external data sources, including DB2.
Investigates, identifies and install fix packs.
Collaborates with development teams and architects to help design application architecture based on the websphere platform and to set standards and best practices.
Collaborates with operating system and database administrators to define platform requirements, measure performance, carry out capacity planning, define and carry out security standards.
Work with vendors as necessary (IBM, Contractors etc.) to troubleshoot problems, upgrade software and to develop solutions to improve application performance.
Supports Websphere Applications Servers on zOS, zLinux, AIX and Microsoft platforms.
