Job Description

• Support and maintain the UNIX operating system, including installations, formatting, back ups, restoration, optimization of performance, monitoring, and trouble shooting of all servers.
• Write, test, and implement shell scripting for repetitive UNIX tasks.
• Ensure proper installation of operating systems updates and perform data backup and recovery.
• Troubleshoot malfunctions on UNIX system. Isolate, diagnose, and resolve database problems.
• Ensure information storage infrastructures are sufficient to meet user needs. Reconfigure or appropriate additional storage space as necessary.
• Respond to Help Desk trouble tickets for UNIX services from NCO network users and ensure tickets are being responded to in accordance with established service levels set by management.
• Maintain system server hardware and applications software to ensure technology dependability.
• Assist in trouble shooting processing issues and follow established protocol to ensure client notification and issue resolution.
• Perform backup monitoring as needed to ensure completion and identify any errors which occur during backup processes.
• Knowledge, understanding, and compliance with all Federal and Local laws and regulations.
• Knowledge, understanding, and compliance with NCO policies and procedures.
• Make recommendations to implement improved processes.
• Provide feedback to management concerning possible problems or areas of improvement.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Job Qualifications

• Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent in relevant work experience.
• Must have at least 2 years of previous UNIX Operating System or work related experience required. 4-7 years previous UNIX Operating System or work related experience preferred.
• Must experience with C programming language a plus.
• Must have ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues and errors.
• Must have ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
• Must have excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
• Must be willing to work in The Fort Global City
• Full time/permanent position available
