Project Head (Visual C++)

Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Performs part of all of the duties of a Lead Development Engineer especially when a high level of maturity and seniority on the technology is required
2. Assesses the cost of the Software Development projects and establish budget documents
3. Plans, makes the necessary follow-up on the different phases of Software Development projects, and ensures that the necessary means such as hardware, resources, functional requirements are available on time
4. Manages Software Development resources under the following tasks:
• Defines annual objectives and review progress against objectives on a regular basis
• Performs the annual performance review meetings and proposes ratings with recommended salary adjustments
• Ensures compliance with budgeted costs, specified delivery dates and quality objectives
5. Ensures a weekly progress reporting to the Director for R&D is done for software development projects as well as pending work to be completed
6. Organizes the design review meetings of the software development projects they are responsible for
7. Controls and approves the Detail Design of software development projects, unit test folders and reports, integration test folders, and project folders
8. Coordinates and ensures the correction of software defects related to projects he is responsible for as well as correction of software defects related to delivered versions
9. Occasionally provide services to other departments for demonstration, product definition, qualification and support purposes
10. Participates in the definition and realization of Quality documents, methods and tools
11. Analyzes the various development phases of a software project to identify potential improvements as far as the development process is concerned (eg improvements in software quality, reduction in costs) whenever necessary
12. Mentoring and supervision of software development engineers
13. Performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time
14. Reports to the R&D Director and supervises Software Developers, Specialists, and Engineers
15. Willing to go through a training in Europe
Qualifications & Competencies:
1. At least 7 years of related experience in software development and at least 2 years as project leader/manager
2. Expertise in object oriented programming as well as in formal development processes and methods
3. Development experience within the Windows environment in Visual C++ and knowledge of MFC
4. Expertise in relational database (Oracle / MS SQL Server)
5. Practical experience of SQL request design/tuning and use of ODBC/ADO interfaces for SQL access are differentiating factors
6. Knowledge of Visual.net / C# and Web services a plus
7. Extensive experience in SDLC from Project Planning and Feasibility to Maintenance and Upgrades
8. Demonstrates effective verbal and written communications skills
9. Ability to work independently and proactively
10. Demonstrated skill in organizing, maintaining files management and record keeping
11. Ability to travel to other countries as necessary
12. Project Management skills and a proven track record of successful management/supervision of a development team
13. Thorough understanding of internet, intranet, extranet and client servers/architectures
14. Leadership and client management skills
